Today is Pit Bull Awareness Day

October is an awesome month!  Not only is it Pit Bull Awareness Month and Adopt a Shelter/Rescue Dog Month BUT there is one special day for Pit Bull dogs like me AND...IT'S TODAY!!!  It doesn't get any better than that!

My mama likes to say "if everything you know about pit bulls only comes from main stream media...then you know nothing about pit bulls!"  

Do yourself a favor and visit your local shelter, meet one/some pit bull dogs and make up your own mind.  You might be surprised and find your new best friend.

October is Pit Bull Awareness Month

In honor of PIT BULL AWARENESS MONTH (you didn't forget, did you?) here are some things that are total silliness, foolishness and completely untrue regarding Pit Bulls...

1) Pit Bulls DO NOT have locking jaws (that's just silly)

2) Pit Bulls DO NOT have the same bite pressure psi as sharks. (just plain foolishness) In fact, two other breeds of dogs have a higher bite pressure psi than Pit Bulls

3) Pit Bulls DO feel pain (yeah, just like a human, duh)

4) Pit Bulls brains DO NOT swell, causing them to go crazy (total nonsense)

5) Pit Bulls ARE NOT inherently vicious and dangerous 

and lastly

6) Pit Bulls CANNOT be identified by their appearance, nor can any other mixed breed dog.
