Wishing You a Very Merry Christmas

Some big fat guy called Santa stopped by and I got presents to open all by myself!  I think I'm liking this Merry Christmas holiday.

Actually, I enjoyed tearing apart the boxes
as much as I enjoyed tearing off the paper!
Then I enjoyed chewing my new toy, which isn't designed for chewing, it's designed for tugging, so we'll see how long it lasts.
I love my new Kong tails toy so I think I'll keep it close.
I hope the big fat guy stopped by your house and left you new toys, too.

Christmas Photo Shoot

Good Grief!
"This is what I think of your antlers!"
"Okay, I'll wear them but you can't make me look at you."
"Are you happy now?"
Greg would call this an epic frown ;(
Thankfully, that's done for another year!

Resting Comfortably

It's been a few days and I'm still wearing this stupid t-shirt but I am also sleeping on the people's bed AND using the pillow, so it's all good!
I did overhear something about being such a good boy and not even attempting to bother my in-sish-un that the dorky DUDE t-shirt will soon be coming off.  Hip, Hip, Hooray!

Well...Isn't This Embarrassing!

It's not bad enough that I have special metal "stiples" (stitches/staples) in me, I'm being forced to wear this stupid t-shirt!  I'm wearing it as a precaution so I don't bother my "stiples" but seriously, I'm not that kind of dog.  On a good note...at least there's breakfast!
As it turns out, my tummy is still a little upset and I'm not very hungry ;o(

To make matters even worse, I was made to go outside with it on.  OUTSIDE, where I could be seen by anyone in the neighborhood.  Good grief!
Let's get this over with so I can get back inside and lie down.

Technically, it's my papa's t-shirt and it fits him a lot better than it fits me.  Know what it says?  Rock On Dude...it says DUDE!  Talk about dorky.  As you can see, there's a big knot sitting on me, which keeps it from getting tangled in my feet and let's me use my manly parts without interference.

Thankfully, tomorrow is another day!

Ouch

Something was not quite right this morning, I didn't get breakfast!  Seriously?  How am I expected to survive the day with breakfast.  Then, to make matters worse, we got right in the car for a ride.  We never do that, well not unless we are heading south but I haven't seen much production of stuffing stuff into boxes and putting all my special things in the car.  None of my special things are in the car today so I think there is something else going on and I don't think I like it...not one little bit.

Next thing I know, we are getting out at the Dr. Vet's office.  We were just here last week so it seems too soon to be here again but there is no mistaking the Dr. Vet's!

Did I mention that I didn't get any breakfast???

Two nice ladies come in to see me and say "hi" and they did a little poking and prodding, which starts to make me a little nervous.  Next thing I know,  my mama and papa go one way and I go the other way, with the nice ladies.  This can't possibly be right...

Fast forward a few hours, I guess...it's dark again and still there is no breakfast.  Truth be told, I don't really care much at this point, I'm feeling a little woozy and my legs are wobbly, very unusual.  Then I see my people...YAY!  my people are back, they didn't make a mistake after all and they are taking me home.

Finally, breakfast, better late than never, I guess but I don't really feel much like eating, which is not like me, not like me at all.  I eat the little bit in my bowl and go back to lay down.  I'm really not feeling very well, my mouth hurts and my tummy hurts.  I have made the decision that's the last time I stay at the Dr. Vet's office.

As it turns out, I had a bad tooth...who knew?  I guess my mama kind of knew, which is why the Dr. Vet poked in my mouth last week.  I probably got it broken chewing on one of my fav-o-rite marrow bones and I heard my mama say I can't have them any more.  WHAT?  No marrow bones?  I sure hope they don't decide I can't have breakfast any more!  Not only that, I have a bunch of metal stitches in my side where I used to have some kind of "sist" that isn't there any more.
So, here I lay, sad and uncomfortable and not feeling well.  The best I can do is look very sad and whine very softly, making my mama and papa feel bad for me.  Rumor has it that I will be feeling better tomorrow.  Whatever...I'm just hoping there is breakfast tomorrow.

Squirrels

I have been chasing squirrels my whole.entire.life.  My Auntie Wendy and Uncle Dan bought me a very special gift when they were in Bar Harbor with my mama and papa.  Squirrel cookies.
Please note...these were NOT a gift from my very own people but from my other special people.  Go figure.

Well, I digress.

I begged and pleaded for my cookies.
Cookies, please...
Just give me the darned cookies...pleeeeeeeeeze!
So, finally, after chasing squirrels my whole life, I finally caught one!
and took off it's head!

Squirrels are delicious!

Thank you Auntie Wendy and Uncle Dan for thinking about me.  Apparently no one else did.

Let's Name the Puppies

Although my mama and papa called the puppies Chloe and Daisy, they thought it might be fun to collect donations to the AWS Strut Your Mutt fundraiser in exchange for getting to name a puppy.  The requested donation was only $15 and yet there were NO takers, until my awesome Auntie Wendy and die-no-mite Uncle Dan stepped up with $25 donations.  THANK YOU for being so generous!

Since it's most polite to introduce ladies first but both of the puppies are girls, I'll introduce Auntie Wendy's first.  Meet Daphne (formerly Chloe and Miss Independent)!
Next, Uncle Dan's puppy...meet Daisy (formerly...Daisy), weird, huh?

Thank you again for making such a generous donation to our fundraiser!

The Dee Puppies

It's always exciting when new puppies come to Nottingham Fosters.  Today, three Doberman/lab puppies arrived.  They are only 6 weeks old and all look alike.

My papa brought them home in a super large crate because he didn't know how big they would be but they aren't very big.

There are two girls and one boy, his name is Diesel but the girls don't have names yet so my mama named one Chloe and my papa named one Daisy.  They are like eye-dent-ick-l twins, very difficult to tell apart.  Well, Diesel is easy to eye-dent-if-eye cause he's a boy but the girls are super hard!  As luck would have it, Chloe has a cowlick on the back of her neck.

Here I am getting my first getting-to-know-you sniff.

They checked out the yard for awhile and then, just like babies, they got tired and took a nap.

Puppies are funny, they run around, then they sleep, then they run around more, then they sleep.  AND, they like to sleep in the silliest places.  Their favorite silly place was right under my mama's and papa's chairs.
Most of the time, the three of them hang out together but the one my mama calls Miss Independent isn't afraid to check things out on her own and find her own space.
More to follow!

Celebrating the USA

My mama worked early this year in order to get my Fourth of July photos "in the can" before the last minute!  Once again, I was extremely cooperative and once again, she was surprised by that.
What is that mess in the background?
Gosh, I'm so handsome!

She dug into her fabric stash and actually found a red, white and blue fabric large enough to attach to the fence in the backyard.
Let me know when you're ready...
This is my stoic face
I'm wearing my Kiki's Kanine Kerchief that my mama made especially for me.  It's reversible, as you can see below.
My happy face ;o) I think we might almost be finished.
I can be a little scare-d  pants sometimes and she took me by surprise when she added this little flag.
Hey, where the heck did that come from?
She actually tried to get me to hold it in my mouth.  Yeah, like that's EVER going to happen!

You can decide which photo is your favorite...
My papa's home...my papa's home!!!

Are you nearly finished?
I'm lovin' that my mama didn't make me wear a stupid tie or hat, like last year.  You can see all those pictures here if you don't remember.  This year's photo shoot was much improved although I am, was and always will be fab-u-luss-lee handsome!

The Fourth of July celebrates America and the freedoms we enjoy.  There has been a lot of negativity about this country lately and we believe...love it or leave it, it's just that simple!

We wish you a very happy holiday and remind you to please keep your pets home and safe!

Pack Walkin'

Today I went on my first pack walk!  Well, technically, my mama and I attempted a pack walk a few years ago but I freaked out in the parking lot, more than once and my mama was so distressed that we got back in the car and went home.  So, that one doesn't really count.

My mama and I have learned a few things since then.  First of all, we don't get out in the parking lot, surrounded by a bunch of other overly excited dogs.  Instead, we park at the end of the parking area and I don't get out of the car until it's almost time to walk, then I stay behind the car so I can't see the other dogs, until it's almost time to walk.

I start in the back of the pack and leave a considerable amount of space between myself and the next dog.  We no sooner got started today, than a woman came walking toward us with a big German Shepard.  All of the pack walk dogs moved to one side and my mama sat me down and petted me and the doggie didn't bother me at all.

After about a mile, we leave the path on the Eastern Trail and walk down to the river.  I didn't go down there this time, instead my mama gave me a drink on the trail and we waited for the others to come back.  As we headed back, instead of being in a nice, long line, most of the dogs were able to walk closer together.  I was passed by another doggie, then passed a dog and was passed again and I never freaked out or lost my cool, even when we passed two little dogs that were freakin' out at us!

There were dogs in front of me...

and dogs behind me...
and I was just chillin' in the middle!
As you can see, I'm wearing my sunglasses, which my mama calls my Behavior Modification Accessory.  For some reason, my peoples believe I am better behaved when I wear them.  Maybe I am...maybe I'm not but people think I'm cute, so it's all good.

It took about an hour of walking before we got back to the car and all of the doggies and their people were tired.  It was a nice walk and my mama was really, REALLY proud of me.  I think there are more walks for me in the future.

PS...my mama is having a problem with her iCloud photos so these are kinda small.  She promises she'll come back and fix them when she figures out what the problem is (or Uncle Dan figures it out)!
